It is a significant cultural event that signifies the start of a new year and strengthens familial bonds.  But the evening meal the night before Lunar New Year also has significance and traditions. \nThe meal before Lunar New Year\, known as “Jeongwol Daeboreum\,” is a significant Korean tradition that involves the preparation and consumption of various dishes. This meal typically consists of sticky rice cake soup (tteokguk)\, bibimbap\, and various side dishes (banchan). It is believed that consuming this meal will bring good luck\, health\, and prosperity for the upcoming year. The meal before Lunar New Year not only serves as a time for families to gather and enjoy a delicious feast but also holds cultural and symbolic significance in Korean tradition. \nJoin us as Chef Laura helps you prepare this traditional meal and tells you how her and her family have always celebrated these traditions and the significance behind them.
