Born in an Italian and Korean family, she has received her Culinary Art Degree from Kendall College and has worked for various establishments in the Chicagoland area. We are honored to have Chef Laura’s diverse background delight our guests with an exciting and hands-on cooking experience where you’ll learn how to create a delicious, fresh meal from scratch!

Menu:

Homemade Fettuccine: Start by learning how to make fresh pasta from scratch. We’ll guide you through the process of creating your own silky, tender fettuccine, perfect for any occasion.

Oven-Roasted Tomato Sauce with Sunflower Seed Pesto: Pair your fettuccine with a rich, flavorful oven-roasted tomato sauce and a nutty sunflower seed pesto that adds a fresh twist to the traditional basil version.

Panzanella Salad: We’ll prepare this vibrant, Italian bread salad made with fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, and toasted bread, all tossed in a tangy vinaigrette.

Balsamic Honey Oven-Roasted Brussels Sprouts: Learn how to transform Brussels sprouts into a sweet and savory dish with a balsamic vinegar and honey glaze, roasted to perfection.

10-Minute Tiramisu: End the class with a quick and easy dessert! We’ll show you how to prepare a classic tiramisu in just 10 minutes—no baking required.

This class is perfect for those looking to expand their culinary skills, learn fresh takes on traditional dishes, and leave with a full belly and great memories. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced cook, you’ll enjoy every minute of this fun, interactive experience!

Hands-On – Participation Cooking Class: Aprons and workstations will be set up for you while your Chef-Instructor walks you through each course and giving you lots of tips and tricks along the way.

If you cannot make your reservation, we do encourage you to attempt to find someone that would enjoy attending. We can only issue a credit for you to attend a future event (6 month expiration). Within 72 hours we are not able to offer a credit as we’ve already incurred food and help costs.

Laura Claude

Chef Laura has a diverse background in cultural and culinary arts. Born in an Italian and Korean family, she has a degree in accounting. However, early on in her corporate career, she realized her passion for gastronomy which led her to graduate from Kendall College with a culinary art degree. She worked for various establishments including the Primehouse in River North, and was one of the opening team members of the first Virgin Hotel. Her love language is food and she passionately shares her abundance of culinary mastery with her students. Thanks to her diverse background, her depth in food culture knowledge is limitless. She has a dedicated group of followers who do not miss any opportunity to take her exciting and adventurous classes here at The Joyful Gourmet. When she is not teaching, you will find her in her garden or enjoying time with her children.
