Korean BBQ, also known as “gogi gui” in Korean, is a popular dining experience that involves grilling various types of meat at the table. It’s a social and interactive way of enjoying a meal, and it’s widely enjoyed both in South Korea and around the world.  Tonight, Chef Laura will be introducing you to some Korean favorites! Join our talented Chef as she guides you in preparing Kalbi and Daeji Bulgogi. The main dish will be served with traditional Banchans and rice. We will also be putting our creative skills to work and making an apple Soju cocktail. Don’t miss this fun class with Chef Laura!

Participation:  Mostly Demonstration with Opportunities to Help!


Kalbi: Soy marinated short ribs.

Daeji Bulgogi: Thinly sliced marinated pork.

Banchans: Traditional Korean side dishes, typically with seasonal vegetables, served with rice.

Apple Soju Cocktail: Korean rice liquor

If you cannot make your reservation, we do encourage you to attempt to find someone that would enjoy attending. We can only issue a credit for you to attend a future event (6 month expiration). Within 72 hours we are not able to offer a credit as we’ve already incurred food and help costs.

Laura Claude

Chef Laura has a diverse background in cultural and culinary arts. Born in an Italian and Korean family, she has a degree in accounting. However, early on in her corporate career, she realized her passion for gastronomy which led her to graduate from Kendall College with a culinary art degree. She worked for various establishments including the Primehouse in River North, and was one of the opening team members of the first Virgin Hotel. Her love language is food and she passionately shares her abundance of culinary mastery with her students. Thanks to her diverse background, her depth in food culture knowledge is limitless. She has a dedicated group of followers who do not miss any opportunity to take her exciting and adventurous classes here at The Joyful Gourmet. When she is not teaching, you will find her in her garden or enjoying time with her children.
