A Chef’s Table with Chef Laura is more than a meal — it’s a front‑row seat to technique, flavor, and the kind of culinary insight you only get when you’re close enough to hear the sizzle. Throughout this summer‑inspired menu, Chef Laura shares her favorite tips and tricks for building bold flavor, balancing freshness, and elevating simple ingredients into something unforgettable.

The evening opens with a bright Watermelon Salad layered with radish, mint, and a spicy, refreshing dressing — a masterclass in contrast and summer texture. From there, the heat rises as Chef Laura demonstrates how to use a cast‑iron pan to its fullest potential, searing a deeply flavorful Skirt Steak and finishing it with vibrant, herb‑packed Chimichurri. Light, elegant Zucchini Noodles bring a fresh counterpoint, while slow‑Oven‑Roasted Tomatoes add sweetness and depth to the plate.

Guests enjoy each course as it’s prepared, gaining insider knowledge along the way — the kind of chef wisdom that transforms home cooking long after the night ends.

If you cannot make your reservation, we do encourage you to attempt to find someone that would enjoy attending. We can only issue a credit for you to attend a future event (6 month expiration). Within 72 hours we are not able to offer a credit as we’ve already incurred food and help costs.

Laura Claude

Chef Laura has a diverse background in cultural and culinary arts. Born in an Italian and Korean family, she has a degree in accounting. However, early on in her corporate career, she realized her passion for gastronomy which led her to graduate from Kendall College with a culinary art degree. She worked for various establishments including the Primehouse in River North, and was one of the opening team members of the first Virgin Hotel. Her love language is food and she passionately shares her abundance of culinary mastery with her students. Thanks to her diverse background, her depth in food culture knowledge is limitless. She has a dedicated group of followers who do not miss any opportunity to take her exciting and adventurous classes here at The Joyful Gourmet. When she is not teaching, you will find her in her garden or enjoying time with her children.
