In this lunchtime workshop, you’ll learn to prepare Japchae, Korea’s beloved sweet potato noodle dish, stir‑fried with vibrant vegetables and savory seasoning. Then roll up your sleeves to craft two types of dumplings from scratch: Pork & Chives Dumplings bursting with aromatic flavor, and delicate Shrimp Dumplings with a tender, juicy filling.

Whether you’re a seasoned home cook or a curious beginner, this class offers a fun, flavorful way to recharge your midday and bring new skills back to your kitchen. Come hungry and leave inspired.

Participation Cooking Class: Aprons and workstations will be set up for you while your Chef-Instructor walks you through each course and giving you lots of tips and tricks along the way.

If you cannot make your reservation, we do encourage you to attempt to find someone that would enjoy attending. We can only issue a credit for you to attend a future event (6 month expiration). Within 72 hours we are not able to offer a credit as we’ve already incurred food and help costs.

Laura Claude

Chef Laura has a diverse background in cultural and culinary arts. Born in an Italian and Korean family, she has a degree in accounting. However, early on in her corporate career, she realized her passion for gastronomy which led her to graduate from Kendall College with a culinary art degree. She worked for various establishments including the Primehouse in River North, and was one of the opening team members of the first Virgin Hotel. Her love language is food and she passionately shares her abundance of culinary mastery with her students. Thanks to her diverse background, her depth in food culture knowledge is limitless. She has a dedicated group of followers who do not miss any opportunity to take her exciting and adventurous classes here at The Joyful Gourmet. When she is not teaching, you will find her in her garden or enjoying time with her children.
