Coffee varietals can be likened to different types of apples (Red Delicious, Granny Smith, Honey Crisp, etc.); they all taste like apples but each with their own desirable characteristics and flavors. Equally the same, the single varietal that makes up this coffee, Pink Bourbon, tastes like coffee but is very sought after for its complex fruited flavors that often are mistaken for those of an Ethiopian coffee. Pink Bourbon is a hybrid between Red Bourbon and Yellow Bourbon that requires impeccable farming practices especially when it comes to harvesting cherries at perfect peak ripeness. The effort that the owner and farmer of Finca La Primavera, Favio Valenzuela, invests into this crop of special, single varietal Pink Bourbon is apparent in this beautifully harmonious cup that sings sweet, syrupy, juicy notes of amaretto, ripe pomegranate and blood orange that build as it cools. Simply put, this coffee is the poster child for our tagline “Sweet, Beautiful Coffees.”
